Liverpool Sound City just gets better!
YAY times ahead for Liverpool as major US players Deerhunter and Animal Collective have been added to Liverpool Sound City.
Fresh from their ‘aready contender for album of the year,’ Baltimore’s Animal Collective will make it a Liverpool double, with a date lined up for March, they’ll be back once more in May and this time joined by Atlanta’s Deerhunter, who themselves featured heavily in every end of year album poll with their double Microcastle/Weird Era.
Their compatriots Cage the Elephant, Scousers Hot Melts and London folk quartet Mumford and Sons join the shithot line-up with Little Boots, White Lies and Mongrel already announced.
In total, more than 400 acts from around the world will play to 25,000 people across 30 of Liverpool’s most prestigious venues for four days.
Early Bird tickets cost ã35, with regular tickets ã60 in advance and ã80 on the door. Festival and conference passes are priced at ã99 for Early Bird and at ã120 for regular tickets.
Liverpool SoundCity Festival Director Dave Pichilingi said: “SoundCity is all about what is fresh, innovative and exciting – just like Liverpool itself.
He added: “It’s going to be tough for some festivals in 2009, but in White Lies and Little Boots we’ve got two of this year’s hottest acts coming to SoundCity.”
