LIVERPOOL Sound City 2009 exploded into life tonight as venues across the City soaked up a vast array of sonic wonders.

Leading the way were Texan fusion allstars White Denim who brought the O2 Academy to it’s knees with their devastating mix of guitar whirlwinds and propulsive rhythms reducing the crowd to a heaving mess of sodden bodies.
Showcasing new material from their upcoming LP Fits and dynamic highlights from breakthrough Workout Holiday (a Getintothis top 100 LP of 2008), the trio set an early standard for what is about to unfold over the next three days.
Other highs on the first day included London trio The Invisible who transformed Korova into an intergalatic funk disco with their dystopian mix of soulful carnage and Funkadelic rock.
Scouse heroes Hot Club de Paris, krautrockers Phantom Band and a whole host of secret gems topped off a day littered with moments to cherish.
For a full preview of the second day’s billing and comprehensive coverage of last night’s City-wide action see Getintothis all day and right through to the closing parties deep into Sunday morning.
