Jon Gomm plays guitar really good. You should come see him play Liverpool’s View Two Gallery next Friday (November 26).

When Getintothis used to put gigs on in our home town it was a hit and miss affair. Some kids trying their luck with varying results, some old tarts belting out standards or spacerock, some fools just fooling no-one.
But when we booked Leeds-based Jon Gomm for the first time back in 2002 it felt like a genuine event. Not quite Kanye West releasing a record event, but for a small town in the sticks his arrival was the coming of a Guitar Zeus. And his gig left many people with sore jaws after having to repeatedly pick em off the floor.
Now, I know what you’re thinking, there’s a lot of show-offs out there who like nothing better than to masturbate with a plank of wood in their hand rather than their own piece of wood, but this dude is way better than that.
So way good that we’re giving an unusual plug as Liverpool Acoustic deserve a nod for bringing him back to Liverpool.
I’d recommend you get involved.
Here’s some footage:

Jon Gomm: Hey Child (live).
Here’s the jibber jabber on the release:
Liverpool Acoustic is proud to present the amazing Jon Gomm in his first Liverpool concert for over four years. Leeds-based Jon is an acoustic singer-songwriter with an incredible virtuoso guitar style, where he uses one acoustic guitar to create drum sounds, basslines and sparkling melodies all at the same time.
The emphasis is still on the soulful vocals and songwriting however, and his original material is influenced by everything from Robert Johnson to Radiohead.
His live shows combine deeply personal performances and a natural wit, with a once-seen-never-forgotten two-handed guitar style, both physical and complex, producing sounds people can barely believe are coming from a humble acoustic guitar.
