Into darkness? Here’s a double dose you should be getting involved in.

Witch house, rapegaze, deathrock. Bah.
Getintothis never really bought into the whole hypemachine of that scream-and-you-miss-it fad of 2k10.
But one facet of that media curveball which has always churned out the odd lughole delight is goth.
Much like prog, it’s been unfairly dismissed and associated with bands which do the tag a disservice – how often is the term applied to alt-culture which has no relevance whatsoever? Specifically, I’m looking at you the whopper that tarnishes a baggy-jeaned, dyed-hair kid on a skateboard a ‘goff’…
I digress. Goth has been responsible for some of the most music creative forces over the last three decades and the recent renaissance (again see progressive rock’s continued influence for parallels), is of little surprise.
Never one to miss the boat, Matador Records, spotted former Liverpool Sound City droners gothic Esben & The Witch pre-shark jumping, and the gamble has paid of. And following rave reviews of debut Violet Cries the band are about to launch into their first major UK tour including a date at Liverpool’s The Kazimier on Sunday April 3.
As if this wasn’t enough to tempt you over to the darkside, Getintothis‘ favourite new band, London spacerockers Teeth of the Sea are supporting. You can read us gush like a massive gushing gush machine here. They really are bonza.
It maybe a springtime Sunday, but this explosion of darkness is one not to miss and Getintothis has two guest list passes for two readers that adds us on Twitter tells us who your favourite Witch is. Add ‘#witch’ will you to help us out.
Oh, and please retweet the competition to your followers too. That’d be sweet.
In the meantime, here’s some quality goth from Esben and the Witch.
