Getintothis kicks off a new column, Mixtape, with one of our favourite DJs – Chibuku resident James Rand.
Oh, hey. So Getintothis has been quiet over the last week as we enjoyed a late summer mini break. We barely touched a computer for FIVE days.
But now we’re back – reinvigorated and kicking off a new column, the does-what-it-says-on-the-tin sonic breezeblock that is MIXTAPE.
This series will showcase the finest cuts, mixes, loops and grooves from people who are one step ahead of the game; be it artists, producers, videographers or simply music fans who live and breathe it 24-7.
To launch the column, Getintothis is chuffed to bits to host a superlative mix from James Rand.
James has soundtracked, or pretty much been involved in, all our favourite late, late nights in Liverpool over the last five years; from his Chibuku residency sets playing alongside 2ManyDJs, Jacque le Cont and Erol Alkan to storming displays at hundreds of gigs across the city (remember EVOL‘s 8th birthday with Zola Jesus?).
Oh, and let’s not forget his commitment to the cause, playing incredible techno sets in that dodgy place on Hardman Street at Stupid O’Clock in the morning.
Having honed his craft at Korova, James’ skill, passion and verve is backed by the fact he’s booked up and down the country alongside nailing down three residencies in Liverpool, all the while spreading his pearls of wisdom at audio college SAE Institute.
James will back at Chibuku for their Masque re-opening party alongside the likes of Ben Klock, Mosca and Blawan on Saturday October 6.
