Liverpool Sound City is mounting a ‘British Invasion’ of the US with its second sister festival in New York.
The team behind Sound City has held several overseas events as part of its mission to help Merseyside musicians and music businesses win international deals.
It held its first New York event last March – and is returning to the city in March for a conference debating music and technology, followed by a live show including Liverpool’s GIT Award nominees The Tea Street Band plus rock and rollers The Verdict.

The gig will be headlined by The Enemy, who released their third top ten album last year, while Reverend and the Makers will also perform.
Festival director Dave Pichilingi said: ‘The theme for New York is ‘British Invasion’ – it’s been 50 years since the original musical invasion.
We’ll also be looking at parallel things such as punk rock in the 70s and acid house in the 80s and the significance of British music in the US. It’s all shaping up really well.
The live show will be held at the Knitting Factory, in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Other performers will include KOF and Polish artist Brodka.
Pichilingi said: “Williamsburg is the place to be for this kind of event.”
Liverpool Sound City was founded in 2008 and has, from the start, aimed to showcase music businesses as well as musicians.
Previous speakers at Sound City conferences have included hip-hop pioneer Afrika Bambaataa, Seymour Stein – the music industry legend who signed Madonna – and Joy Division bassist Peter Hook.

Last year, Sound City secured investment from venture capital firm Ingenious – which said it wanted to grow the brand around the world.
Sound City had already held sister events in Texas, the Middle East and Norway – and Pichilingi says more overseas events will follow thanks to the Ingenious investment.
Liverpool Sound City 2013 will run from Thursday, May 2, to Saturday, May 4.
