Liverpool-based Etches draw up big plans with their first demo ahead of October Liverpool date, Getintothis’ Joseph Viney sketches out the details.
You can plug away for ages never quite making it, or you can hit the ground running.
It’s not particularly a choice you get to make as a band (unless you have a BRIT School diploma framed on your wall), but Liverpool-based Etches are well and truly on the latter course.
Let’s Move In is ‘only’ a demo, but you can’t deny a good tune regardless of format.
Pensive, glittery and with a steady pace, Let’s Move In has already received a steady stream of fluttering eyelashes from XFM and Communion Music.
Its stabs of fuzz-tinged keys recall latter-day Fall releases, while deep, rounded vocals and a levitating chorus wrap the bow on what could be one of the more intriguing independents releases of 2013.
Etches play MelloMello on Tuesday October 15 with Fun Adults. This will be the place to be if you’re looking to get the jump on everybody.
