Liverpool’s carnival of musical colour return with an enthralling rollercoaster of chaotic clatter, Getintothis’ Lauren Jones hitches a ride.

Back in the summer of 2011, when the weather was mediocre and rainfall was at its height, The Harlequin Dynamite Marching band came together as one, with Stealing Sheep‘s drummer Lucy Mercer in the driving seat making what was a dampened season into an fanciful array of groundbreaking mischief.
Since then many Harlequin‘s have shapeshifted and upped sticks, yet at present it is the twelve who remain, faithfully creating a fantastic nationality for big-band music. After a truly successful single launch of track Loneliness back in November and a mind-expanding performance at this years Threshold Festival it would seem as a perfect time for an explosive four track EP.
The self-titled EP includes some of our favourite tracks such as, Jonah and Loneliness which are partnered with two more slightly unknown tracks of which Getintothis can’t help but devour. Hovis and Singin’ int’ Rain provide the joyous prangs and overwhelming jazz inclinations that emanate from an unexpecting locale to then turn into a carnival of colour and avant-garde obscurity.
Listening to Hovis, a time travelling wave of street parties absorb an outer shell of the present, catering for an old-school vibe of community spirit tinted with a joyous remembrance of Victorian circus tales guaranteed for the most enthralling ride of chaotic exposure.
