Africa Oye celebrates 22 years of festivities in Sefton Park – here’s the stage times.
The full programme for Africa Oyé 2014 festival has been unveiled.
This year’s show promises to be bigger and better than ever, climaxing with headliner Findley Quaye on the Sunday night.
The festival, which won this year’s GIT Inspiration Award, will also be performances by Jupiter & Okwess International (pictured), Cuban nine-piece Wara, HAJAmadagascar (below) & The Groovy People, Homage To Magool featuring Farxiya Fiska, Joe Driscoll, Sekou Kouyate, Mose ‘Fan Fan’ and Abdoulaye Samb & Minnjiaraby.
Now in its 22nd year, Africa Oyé attracted over 30,000 people in 2013, and organisers expect even more people to attend this year thanks to the draw of Finley Quaye.
When he was unveiled as the headliner of this year’s festival, Quaye told Getintothis: “It’s an honour to be headlining Africa Oyé in Liverpool – songwriter city as I often refer to it.
“It’s a privilege for us to be gracing the stage in Sefton Park; a park I often talk about and we are also blessed to be part of such a prestigious event and line up.”
