Getintothis Jukebox

Listen to the best new tracks from Liverpool and those hitting the city plus Bird’s frontwoman on a tune from the darkside.

Hey and welcome to Getintothis‘ first Jukebox selection.

Every fortnight we will be sharing great new Merseyside music with fresh sounds visiting the city plus a cluster of hot tunes which are lighting up our ears. This week we’ve included a new track by Neon Waltz (review) and Rustie; the former playing last Friday in Liverpool, the latter playing LIMF later this month.

We’ve also included new tracks from ZhuJessie Ware and The Weeknd plus Sound City favourites DZ Deathrays – and there’s also space from long-time favourite Tom Petty & The Heartbreaks whose influence is clear on Liverpool Music Week players, The War On Drugs.

Our first Getintothis Jukebox guest selection is Bird‘s creative force, Adéle Emmas, who plumped for Angel Olsen, she said: “I absolutely love the song White Fire at the moment, Angel’s voice is really haunting on it and the lyrics are beautiful, her style of playing on this reminds me of Leonard Cohen too. I think she’s got something pretty special.”

Also on this week’s jukebox are Run Tiger Run who featured at X&Y Festival, emerging artists Moats and Etches plus GIT Award One To Watch winner Lapsley who has just dropped her video to Painter (Valentine). Completing our picks are The Sundowners, who have been busy lately with slots at both Astral Coast and Liverpool Calling, Summercamp and Sound City star Marika Hackman and By The Sea with a previously unreleased demo ahead of the release of their second album.

To submit a track on future Getintothis Jukebox, just tweet @Getintothis with the hashtag #jukebox – but for the time being, kick back and enjoy this lot.
