Electronic pioneers New Order will be bringing the sounds of their upcoming brand new album, as well as a monumental back catalogue to Liverpool this November, Getintothis’ Patrick Clarke reports.

Synth-pop pioneers and alternative dance legends New Order will play Liverpool’s Olympia this November 21 for the penultimate show of an upcoming eight-date European tour, it has been announced.

The shows are to follow the release of the group’s new LP Music Complete this September 25, which is their first album of entirely new studio material since 2005’s The Siren’s Call. The band have already released three preview clips, each showcasing a different side to the record, which you can hear below.

The album is to feature a series of guest vocalists. La Roux‘s Elly Jackson will contribute leading vocals on two tracks, Tutti Frutti and People on the High Line, as well as backing vocals on Plastic, having previously supported the band on their 2014 tour.

The Killers’ Brandon Flowers, whose band took their name from the fictional group in the video for New Order‘s Crystal, is also to appear on Superheated, while proto-punk polymath Iggy Pop will take the lead on Stray DogPop, too, has history with the band, collaborating live on a version of Love Will Tear Us Apart at their Tibet House benefit gig in New York last year.

It was Peter Hook and The Light who last took New Order material to the Liverpool live circuit, playing the group’s first two albums Movement and Power, Corruption & Lies in full to the Arts Club in 2013, a show Getintothis’ Michael Booth called “both intimate and anthemic”.

Hook, the original bassist and founding member of both New Order and their former guise Joy Division, departed the group in 2008. Both parties have been trading insults ever since, though it was a subject frontman Bernard Sumner wisely steered clear of” in his own visit to Liverpool, a reading from his memoirs at the Epstein Theatre last year.

Tickets for the upcoming tour will go on sale this Friday July 10 at 9am.
