With The Kazimier shutting its doors on New Year’s Day 2016, Getintothis’ Ste Knight looks forward to Upitup’s last big rave-up as Luke Vibert provides the swan song.

Luke Vibert is a man of many names. Amen Andrews, Spac Hand Luke, Wagon Christ, Plug, Kerrier District to name but a few. Under his many aliases Vibert has produced some of the most diverse dance music since his career started back in 1993 with his debut release Wiers, released as a collab with Jeremy Simmonds on Aphex Twin‘s Rephlex Records.

It’s been quite some time since Vibert visited Liverpool. For those who can remember as far back as 2004, you’ll recall him performing alongside other IDM luminaries such as Rob Hall and Chris Clark at the Warp Nesh Party held in Liverpool Guild of Students, where he blew minds with a live performance of tracks from his YosepH album amongst others (I Love Acid was a particular wonky highlight). He’s been in the vicinity, sure, but it’s a full 11 years since he threw down some mad acid on our hallowed streets.

That is all set to change, however, as Upitup, who have been putting on some bananas raves in the Kazimier since it opened, have secured Vibert to top the bill at their final farewell to our beloved Kaz before it sadly closes its doors in January 2016.

Upitup are well worth checking out as, in addition to their awesome events, they’ve been putting out tonnes of free music from the inception of their website – it’s a must for anyone interested in listening to some completely left-field dance music with its feet planted firmly in the underground.

Vibert joins a huge cast of acid, techno and jungle heads to give us one last massive rave-up to wave a teary goodbye. Amongst those playing are MassonixGraham Massey from 90’s rave overlords 808 State; Lydiate born acid monster Global Goon; genre-defying P.P.Roy; T-Funkshun and Voodoo techno trailblazer Mark Forshaw as well as Upitup rezzies, 303 DJs and Less Effect DJs.

Let us make no bones about it, Upitup have pulled out all the stops to make sure our final Kazimier rave-up is one hell of a beast. Grab your tickets here while they’re still available.
