Getintothis’ Will Neville looks forward to some funky post-punk when Shopping return to Liverpool this December.

London-based three-piece Shopping are to play at Bumper on Thursday December 10 in support of new album Why Choose, which was released on FatCat Records earlier this month.

They will follow up their current North American tour with nine dates in the UK, starting at London’s iconic 100 Club, stopping off at Bumper in Liverpool two days later. Their last visit was as highly enthusiastic support to Merchandise at The Kazimier last November.

As we noted on that occasion, their funky, angular but tuneful post-punk sound is blended from the individual, primitive noises of Rachel Aggs on skittering guitar, bassist Billy Easter and drummer Andrew Milk, with Aggs and Milk sharing and trading vocal duties.

As well as the new album, the band recently released a video for new single Straight Lines, featuring bare-skinned people standing in for a variety of inanimate objects such as hat stands and ladders.

Fans of singers such as Poly Styrene and Siouxsie Sioux and classic post-punk outfits like Au Pairs and The Slits should make sure they snap up tickets to see Shopping at Bumper for a festive treat.
