Liverpool Sound City add headliners Catfish and the Bottlemen plus a raft of electronic acts including Floating Points, John Talabot and Hot Chip Getintothis’ Patrick Clarke chews over the news.
Organisers have also added Palma Violets, Georgia and Viola Beach, as well as a partnership with Liverpool dance promoters Freeze, who bring Leftfield, Floating Points, Henrik Schwarz and a Hot Chip DJ set to the docks.
The new headliners have a history with the festival, having first played in 2011 as an unsigned act – five years later they return at the top of the bill for this year’s weekender, which takes place May 28-29.
Meanwhile, the Baltic Warehouse will host electronic pioneers Leftfield and a Hot Chip along with Âme, Motor City Drum Ensemble, Mano Le Tough, Spanish DJ John Talabot, Gerde Janson and Greg Wilson.
The festival, taking place at the Bramley Moore Dock, was recently named the UK’s Best Metropolitan Music Festival of 2015 thanks to a standout bill headlined by The Flaming Lips, Belle & Sebastian and The Vaccines, with Getintothis on hand to record every moment.
2016 will be Sound City‘s first year as a two-day event, following an announcement made last October. Tickets are on sale now, with a limited amount still on sale for an early price of £70 from their official website.
