With the public vote closed, Merseyside continues to lead the way at the UK Festival awards, as Getintothis’ Craig MacDonald finds out.

The shortlist for the 2016 UK Festival Awards has been announced, with several of Merseyside’ events represented in abundance across the whole spectrum of categories.

Following the original long list and the public vote, this years nominees have been narrowed down to a select few before a panel of industry heads picks the winners on Monday November 28.

With its new Steel Yard addition proving a winner with this years attendees, Creamfields has made the shortlist for Best Major Festival and Best Dance Event, while Calvin Harris‘ headline set at the event also makes Headline Performance of the Year.

In timely news, Liverpool Music Week also makes the cut for Line-Up of the Year, Best Small Festival and Best Metropolitan Festival, where it will be joined by docklands bonanza Liverpool Sound City.

Completing the brethren are Positive Vibrations, who will be hoping to strike gold in the Best New Festival category, in what is proving a stellar year for Merseyside music.
