unnamedWith third album Clear Shot newly released, Getintothis’ Will Neville looks ahead to TOY’s headline return to Liverpool.

Fans of krautrock-meets-shoegazers TOY have been waiting nearly three years for them to release the follow-up to Join The Dots. Their patience was rewarded when Clear Shot, their third album, was released in October.

Last year, they worked with Bat For Lashes as Sexwitch on six covers of obscure 1970’s psych and folk songs from countries such as Iran and Morocco.

The band formed in Brighton in 2010, based around singer/guitarist Tom Dougall, second guitarist Dominic O’Dair and Maxim Barron on bass and vocals, all previously with the ill-fated Joe Lean & The Jing Jang Jong. They soon signed to Heavenly Records, and have toured with the likes of The Horrors and The Vaccines.

Spanish keyboard player Alejandra Diez left a year ago, being replaced by Max Oscarnold of The Proper Ornaments, with the band’s line-up completed by drummer Charlie Salvidge.

They have twice wowed local audiences when playing Sound City, most recently in the grand surroundings of the Anglican Cathedral in 2013, before returning to East Village Arts Club in March 2014. This time around, they play The Magnet on Thursday November 24.
