With psychedelic dream pop band FUSS set to release debut EP Getintothis’ Sarah Pitman has the details of a track exclusive and live dates
Liverpool psych five-piece FUSS are set to release their debut self-titled EP on September 1 on new label Modern Sky UK.
The EP will contain four new tracks, including lead single Coma, which you can stream exclusively below. Coma comes with a music video directed by Dominic Foster, set in the old wing of the mansion where the band currently reside.
Having only been together for about a year after a chance meeting of five strangers, FUSS have captivated audiences with their psychedelic pop, combining sweeping guitar melodies and a chilled out, dream pop vibe.
The band create tracks to transport listeners to another plane of existence, taking away for the mundaneness of everyday life.
Getintothis tracked down the band to ask them a few questions about themselves and their music.
Getintothis: Does your band name have a meaning?
FUSS: “It’s foot in German. Das ist gut!”
Getintothis: Who/what are your biggest influences?
Cormac: “John Coltrane.”
Karl: “George Harrison.”
Tony: “The scent of warm bread.”
Dave: “A cuppa tea and a smoke.”
Getintothis: What’s your songwriting process? What comes first, the music or the lyrics?
FUSS: “An idea is put out there, we all go away for a week and have a think then come back and make that cake.”
Getintothis: Do you have any hobbies outside of music that you think help towards your creative process?
FUSS: “Loads of outdoor stuff. Badminton, Frisbee, finding good chill spots to observe nature an’ that. Stuff like that fills our heads with mini films and then we go on to score them.”
Getintothis: What advice would you give to your fellow musicians?
FUSS: “Be yourself and no one else, buddy.”
