Johnny Echols

Founding member of LOVE, Johnny Echols, has announced a farewell tour in 2019, as Getintothis’ Simon Kirk has all the details.

The LOVE band featuring Johnny Echols returns to the UK for their farewell tour, including a show at Liverpool’s Grand Central Hall on Saturday, June 29.

Echols is no stranger to the city, having played at LIMF two years ago.

The band will celebrate the music of LOVE and Arthur Lee, playing classic songs from LOVE’s first three albums LOVE, De Capo and Forever Changes as well as other sonic cosmic dust for one last time.

From 1993 until Lee’s death in 2006, the band, Baby Lemonade, performed with him, serving as his longest serving band and the catalyst to the renaissance of LOVE’s music, which saw sold-out tours,  performances at the Glastonbury Festival and an appearance on Later With Jools Holland.

Arthur Lee – De Capo – A Personal Reflection

In 2005, joining Baby Lemonade was LOVE’s original guitarist and founding member, Johnny Echols, who was a part of the classic line-up that released the era-defining Forever Changes.

In 2005, Lee was diagnosed with Leukaemia and sadly passed away one year later. Lee’s last show was with Baby Lemonade and Johnny Echols on June 23 at San Francisco’s Cafe Du Nord.

This one is not to be missed, as the Grand Central Hall is arguably the finest venue in town for this show.

The LOVE band featuring Johnny Echols tour dates:

June 26 – Strings, Newport, Isle of Wight
June 27 – The Haunt, Brighton
June 29 – Grand Central Hall, Liverpool
June 30 – Oran Mor, Glasgow
July 1 – Brudenell Social Club, Leeds
July 3 – The Globe, Cardiff
July 4 – The Fleece, Bristol
July 5 – Islington Assembly Hall, London
