Lana Del Rey

Latitude Festival reveals its lineup for its 14th year, Getintothis’ Matty Lear reports on a Lana Del Rey UK festival exclusive among the likes of Cat Power, Neneh Cherry and many more.

George Ezra, Snow Patrol, Lana Del Rey, Underworld, Jason Manford, and Michelle Wolf top an eclectic bill of music and arts as Latitude announces its first wave of acts for 2019.

Founded in 2006, Latitude has established itself as a festival famed for cultivating artists, perhaps best shown in its choice of headliners this year.

From packing out the BBC Music Stage in 2014, George Ezra will headline this year’s Friday night, whilst on the following day, Snow Patrol will make a momentous return after originally headlining the inaugural festival.

However, despite remaining true to itself, the lineup manages to stay fresh, notably with the final headliner – as Californian dream-pop songster Lana Del Rey will perform her first headline show since the release of her number one album Lust For Life in a UK festival exclusive. Expect a true celebration of her moody ethereal magic.

Perhaps one of the most influential British electronic acts of all time, Underworld will also close the Saturday night of the festival with a ‘special performance’ of sorts. Bringing huge festival tunes such as Born Slippy and Cowgirl, this is not to be missed.

Further down the bill are more intriguing offerings with Loyle Carner, Neneh Cherry, Primal Scream, Rolling Black Outs Coastal Fever and Cat Power all among a hugely diverse line up.

Attendees should also look out for experimental British jazz quartet Sons of Kemet, a group oozing with talent and often crossing cultural musical boundaries.

There is also Khruangbin – the Texan thai-funk band taking the world by storm at the moment, and for good reason.

Their most recent release Con Todo El Mundo is ambitiously exotic, yet executed perfectly, both on record and in a live setting. Their set will surely be a highlight of the weekend.

The full list of artists revealed so far is below.

An expanded Comedy, Theatre and Arts aspect of the festival sees big acts such as Jason Manford, Michelle Wolf, Russell Kane and Tom Allen topic a non-musical bill very much impressive in, and as of itself.

The wealth of endowment here fuels a cultural celebration that pushes beyond music, towards a great and grander experience.
