Liverpool icon John Head may have new music in the pipeline, Getintothis’ Peter Guy is suitably intrigued.

UPDATED!

It’s been some time since we heard from John Head.

While his older brother Michael has enjoyed a quite remarkable renaissance during the last 18 months, John has retreated into the shadows.

As Michael Head and The Red Elastic Band launched in 2013 swelling into a fully fledged live outfit with UK tours, their own Violette record label and debut album, Adiós Señor Pussycat (a number one in the independent album charts), John Head has kept new music and live performances to a bare minimum.

Last heard playing lead guitar on the Sandband‘s 2012 7″ When We Kiss and the same band’s debut album, All Through The Night in 2011, John Head has barely featured on the stage or on the grooves since.

That could be about to change. A cryptic picture posted on social media comes with his name emblazoned across a white square and numbers 200419 which is presumably the date 20 April 2019.

John Head is back?

The image appeared on Head‘s Twitter channel and has subsequently carried momentum across social media channels with online chatter high – especially in his hometown of Liverpool.

What happens next is anyone’s guess, but if the appetite for Michael Head‘s live and recorded output is anything to go by there’s certainly much love still across the UK and beyond for the men who brought us album classics such as Water Pistol, HMS Fable and Pacific Stree

John Head announced this morning that he will be performing an intimate show in Studio2 on Parr Street on Saturday April 20th at 8pm.  There are only 150 tickets available from Seetickets.
You’d better move quick, this will sell out very quickly.
