Museum of Backward Hats

The Museum of Backward Hats are plotting – with plans being hatched and a change on the horizon, Getintothis track down the band and find out what they’re up to.

After a busy year, it all seemed to have gone quiet for The Museum of Backward Hats.

The end of 2017 saw them release their debut EP, Melancholy, and play gigs aplenty across Liverpool’s many venues and beyond. And then…nothing.

However a recent Facebook message told us that ‘Contrary to popular myth the heart of The Museum of Backward Hats still beats and will return…slimmer, edgier with a mandate to blow you away…keep faith, stay strong’

What this all means is open to conjecture, but it would appear that another chapter in their story is about to begin.

TMoBH make a noise that harks back to a time minutes before punk broke, taking a lot of the same influences (Lou Reed/Velvet Underground’s scuzzy take on rock n roll) and come up with a punk of their own making. We await the next phase of their evolution with baited breath.

Prior to the next burst of activity from The Hats, we tracked them down to their subterranean lair and forced them to answer 13 questions. And if you don’t believe us, here’s the evidence…

  1. Where are you and what are you doing?

In work. What I shouldn’t be doing is this questionnaire, but we take our victories small and often.

  1. How is that working out?

Much rather do an interview than a questionnaire but hey ho.

  1. What is the last album you listened to?

In its entirety, B52’s Cosmic Thing

  1. Where is your favourite venue?

To play Hanger 34 Liverpool… as a punter The Ritz Manchester

  1. Do you have any pre-gig superstitions?

Not if we get a sound check…not a great fan of plug in and play.

  1. What is your favourite TV show?

Don’t really have one…but if I’m pushed Game of Thrones..but I don’t hold my breath.

  1. When was the last time you were drunk?

November of 2009 can’t remember the exact date.

  1. What’s your hangover remedy?

Abstinence.

Liverpool music gig guide: Smithdown Road Festival Fundraiser, Brazilica Festival and more

  1. Vinyl, CD, MP3 or Streaming?

Vinyl.

  1. When were you last told off?

Usually every day by the people I love the most.

  1. Who is the nicest ‘celebrity’ you’ve met?

Tom Collins from Three From Above.  If he’s not a celebrity yet he will be.

  1. How computer literate are you?

Fair to middling.

13. What inspires you?

Lots of things inspire us to do what we do….music is the medium we work in, to take an idea and develop it until we are prepared to share it…there not just songs they are works of art…plus rock n roll needs saving…X

And so, with an image of The Museum of Backward Hats being told off for not drinking while listening to vinyl, we say our farewells and let them run off to make their plans.
