Riot Jazz

One of The Kazimier’s most-loved visitors is coming back to town. Getintothis’ Paul Riley looks forward to some sousamaphone.

Riot Jazz, in their own words, give you the horn. Having seen them at a number of shows including an appearance at Liverpool Music Week and a number of dates The Kazimier, we are inclined to agree. They also give you trombone and possibly most impressively, the sousaphone. Fronted by wordsmith MC Chunky, they have just played to packed crowds at London’s Jazz Café and Manchester venue Gorilla to celebrate the launch of their second album, Incoming.

Thanks to the brains behind the legendary Speakeasy nights, Liverpool has the chance to see the 9-piece in a much more intimate setting – 24 Kitchen Street. Given the diminutive size of the venue, and the fact that it will be playing host to over twenty musicians, this will be a packed night. With past appearances in mind, come prepared for a party.

Support comes from two local acts, 12-strong funk-hop outfit Galactic Funk Militia and The Blowback Horns who are the most svelte group of the evening, weighing in at 5 members.

There is an itch that can only be scratched by a large group of brass players laying down infectious tunes. This event promises to be a prime example that.

Expect a massive dance.

Riot Jazz are incoming November 28 at 24 Kitchen Street. Tickets are available now.
