SWANS

With Transformer Festival set to feature Swans, The Fall, Royal Trux and more Getintothis’ Rick Leach has the details.

In what is some sort of dream line-up, a new festival in Manchester has set up an impressive array of acts.

The one-day Transformer Festival will take place at Manchester’s Victoria Warehouse on May 28.

Headlining the whole thing are Getintothis favourites Swans and if their last performance in Manchester is anything to go by, then it will be something memorable indeed.

In a hometown sort of gig, The Fall are also set to play and Mark E Smith and his band never fail to surprise in a live setting. With a new Fall album undoubtedly due to drop later this year expect some tunes old and new.

Recently resurrected experimental innovators Charles Bullen and Charles Hayward perform as This is Not This Heat and influential rockers Royal Trux are also back for a rare live show.

Completing the line-up are psych drone merchants Suuns, Brazil’s Mueran Humanos, Loop, Sex Swing, Little Annie (aka Annie Anxiety of Crass fame) and pop-psych act JC Flowers.

With the promise of a record fair, cinema and food stalls this surely will be a Bank Holiday treat for all.
