The Fernweh

The Fernweh release their second single and announce a string of live dates including Liverpool and London shows, Getintothis’ Lewis Ridley has the details.

The Fernweh are set to release new single Is This Man Bothering You?, backed by the sublime instrumental, Timepiece. Both tracks are released on Liverpool label Skeleton Key on Friday, March 30.

They have also announced a series of live dates including a debut London show at The Social on Wednesday, May 30 after a hat-trick of Liverpool dates at Studio 2Sound City and EBGBs.

The band have come a long way since having only a handful of gigs to their name before playing our 10 Years of Getintothis party at The GIT Award and are now taking up a cosmic assault on 2018.

Guest vocalist Alessi Laurent-Marke (Alessi’s Ark) combines with three looped drum kits, a wall of overdriven 12-string guitars, flute and Mellotrons in a heart-stopping rush of psych-folk-pop on the soulful Is This Man Bothering You?.

It’s produced on the Skeleton Key label created by members of The Coral. When The Fernweh spoke to Getintothis  earlier this year they said: “It’s a massive compliment when The Coral tell you they like your music and want to release it.”

The band will hope that the release will emulate the success of the latest release from The Serpent Power

Their second album was released in December and gained huge acclaims for it’s gothic psych-pop collaboration of The Zutons‘ Paul Malloy and Ian Skelly of the label and, of course, The Coral.

The Fernweh are also unleashing Timepiece, an instrumental that has captured the imagination and affection of a growing online fan base through its deeply evocative, gently cinematic piano and strings arrangement.

Following support slots with St Etienne in late 2017 and a February BBC 6 Music Session with Cerys Matthews, The Fernweh will play the following dates:

April 14 – Liverpool, Studio 2, Parr St
May 5 – Liverpool, Sound City
May 26 – Liverpool, EBGBs
May 30 – London, The Social
July 29 – Penrith, Kendal Calling
September 14The Good Life Experience Festival
