Dublin band Fontaines DC will return to Liverpool later this year, Getintothis’ Lewis Ridley with the exclusive on a new show from EVOL.

Irish post-punk outfit Fontaines D.C. will come to Liverpool as part of a huge 2019 which already includes sold out dates in the UK and Europe.

They were last in Liverpool at last year’s Sound City, playing one of the Baltic Triangle‘s disused market stalls as if it were Wembley Arena.

They’ll return to a slightly bigger venue this time but will certainly bring the same shout punk energy that has gained them fans across the country during their tour with Shame.

The last six months have seen Fontaines D.C. release four hotly received double A-side singles, all of which were named as singles of the week by Rough Trade.

They’ve also garnered early support from the likes of Steve Lamacq and others on BBC 6 Music, including with their November release Too Real.

Proud Dubliners, they’ll spend 2019 taking their sound around the world.

They’ve already sold out a date at Manchester’s Gorilla in April, later in the year they’ll come to Liverpool, courtesy of EVOL.

  • Fontaines D.C will play Liverpool’s O2 Academy 2 on Wednesday, November 20.
