HOMEBOY SANDMAN
Stones Throw Records’ Homeboy Sandman drifts into Liverpool for what promises to be an intimate show on Saturday.

Even if your idea of hip-hop is MC Hammer and Vanilla Ice, you’ve probably still managed to hear about Stones Throw records; the seemingly legendary label which in the 21st century has been a byword for quality in the hip-hop community.
Aside from label heavyweights MF DOOM and Madlib, Stones Throw are sourcing and pushing a plethora of MCs and DJs, all of whom are producing intelligent hip-hop designed to make you think, absorb and appreciate the audacity of the art they’re creating.
One such artist is Homeboy Sandman, playing the Shipping Forecast on Saturday March 1 in what is sure to be one of the most intimate dates on his European tour.
Fusing lyrical flow like Quasimoto sans the helium, with beats that nestle somewhere between label-mate Jonwayne and a less aggressive Odd Future, Homeboy Sandman is one of Stones Throw’s new generation of golden boys, and it is only a matter of time before he gets the commercial rub to match the criticial acclaim garnered from his first four albums.
The gig itself is being put on by Scouse favourites No Fakin’ and Madnice in conjunction with Stones Throw and is guaranteed to be a belter.
