Circa Waves

Circa Waves cap a fine year with charity single cover of Michael Head & The Strands classic, Getintothis’ Lorna Gray reports on their wonderful adaptation.

Liverpool lads Circa Waves have had a bit of a busy year. Having released their debut album Young Chasers, touring the UK, Europe, bits of Asia and the US, making their American television debut performing on Conan as well as showing their faces at numerous festivals including Glastonbury, the lads deserve to rest and take the Christmas period off.

Instead, Circa Waves have shown that Scousers have huge hearts by deciding to use this festive season as a reason to give – and have covered Michael Head’s 1997 single Something Like You in aid of the charity War Child UK. The band have swapped their usual upbeat strums of electric guitar and catchy riffs for a more sombre, acoustic version, with added soft percussion and lovely harmonies.

The official video for the charity single shows the smiling, happy faces of the young people War Child UK strive to help and aid with their life-changing support. War Child UK specialise in the protection of children whose lives, families, homes and communities have been affected by war. The charity work in war-torn countries such as Iraq, Afghanistan, the Central African Republic and are also working in the recently devastated Syria. A truly worthy cause.
