The Kazimier Crowd

With just a week to go until the Kaz closes it’s doors for the last time, Getintothis’ Shaun Ponsonby takes a look at what we can expect at Escape To Planet Kronos.

All great odysseys must come to an end. That’s true of Homer’s Odyssey, 2001: A Space Odyssey and the popular disco band Odyssey.

On New Year’s Eve, you could say that two great journeys are coming to an end.

This will be The Kazimier’s final night in existence. The city’s best venue will open its doors one final time, with as much a sense of celebration of an enduring legacy as the bittersweet sense of loss of an era defining building for the weird and/or wonderful.

And they’re closing the best way they possibly could; the conclusion of the Captain Kronos saga.

The sold out event, Escape to Planet Kronos, looks set to salute everything the Kaz does best. The area will be transformed into the futuristic intergalactic theme park for the Planet Kronos Resort’s New Years Eve 3015 celebrations, with various attractions which aim to educate and celebrate the mythological histories of a planet liberated from dictatorial Monotopian control by legendary space and time traveller Captain Kronos. The event is held over a complex of venues. Not just the Kaz, but also The Kazimier Garden, Arts Academy Warehouse an outdoor midnight spectacle on a cordoned-off Wolstenholme Square.

The Kazimier have just released this map for the event.

Do previous Captain Kronos epics make it into our favourite Kazimier moments?

Throughout the night, the festivities will be sprawled across five stages of live music, immersive theatre, dance, DJs and interactive installations.

This is the fourth and final instalment of the epic Kronos saga. If you have missed the first three, fear not! The Kazimier have provided the story so far in the short film below.

There is nowhere else to be to ring in 2016. No doubt it will be an emotional night, but one that honours the legacy of one of the finest venues not only in Liverpool, but in the whole universe.

Doors open at 8pm. For once, we’re going to say you should get there early.
