As the award-winning British rapper announces a gigantic tour including stop-offs all over the UK, GetintothisMiles Etchells looks forward to a tempting proposition.

On October 3, British poet/rapper Akala brings his intellectual lyrical stylings to the main room of Liverpool’s Arts Club, his first gig in the city since a charged Mountford Hall showing last year.

Liverpool is the first show on a packed schedule for the rapper’s 10th anniversary tour, which celebrates the 2006 release of his debut album It’s Not A Rumour.

Since his acclaimed arrival on the UK rap scene – he won Best Hip Hop Act at the MOBO Awards 2006 – Akala has written and released five albums and four mixtapes on his own Illa State Records.

His 2006 single Shakespeare became a grime classic, with its blend of sophisticated rhymes and powerful beats. In 2011 his BBC Radio 1 Extra freestyle Fire In The Booth reached legendary status on the show, as Akala’s astute political bars saw it become one of the most listened to and viewed productions to come from the station.

Akala’s 2016 UK tour begins in Liverpool before visiting another 23 venues in the space of a month, ending in Wolverhampton on October 30th.
