Red_Rum_Club_Sun_Sound_City_Mark_Holmes (7 of 16)With a run of city centre charity gigs set to feature the cream of Liverpool new music talent, GetintothisGary Lambert pores over the announcement.

As part of Alan McGee’s Musicians Against Homelessness, Liverpool has been chosen to be the latest city to put on gigs in order to raise funds and attention for this project.
The Creation Records head honcho and former Oasis manager McGee launched the charity earlier this year, with the purpose of generating money for homeless charity Crisis, and to provide up-and-coming musicians with the opportunity to play gigs.
Independently-promoted events under the Musicians Against Homelessness banner have been planned across the country, with gigs in Manchester and Hull already confirmed, to take place from September 18 to October 9. McGee has his sights set on the ultimate aim of turning the campaign into an annual fundraising event.
As the gigs are picked and promoted locally, it presents a chance for each region to show off the vitality of their local music scenes.
Merseyside has proved no slouch, with uproarious punks Lying Bastards, the hotly-tipped Red Rum Club and the GIT Award nominated LUMEN confirmed for Musicians Against Homelessness-backed gigs. FUSS, Hicari, Youth Hostel and Irene and The Disappointments are also set to provide highlights across five events.
The five nights will be spread across three of Liverpool’s most exciting venues, The Magnet hosting the majority of gigs, with District and the Baltic Social also hosting an event each. A very worthy cause backed up by some cracking acts across several bills point towards good money hopefully being raised for Crisis.
