As Jalen N’Gonda becomes the latest Merseyside act to benefit from PRS Foundation’s Momentum Music Fund, Getintothis’ Craig MacDonald has all the details.
Arts Council England, together with PRS Foundation, have revealed the latest beneficiaries for the Momentum Music Fund, with Jalen N’Gonda among the sixteen artists named in this years picks.
Now in its fifth year, the Momentum Fund will help the adopted Scouse soul man become the latest Merseyside act to benefit from its backing. Bill Ryder-Jones, Hooton Tennis Club, Esco Williams and Lapsley have benefited from the organisers in the past.
Managed by PRS Foundation, the Momentum Music Fund awards grants of £5000 – £15,000 to help artists with marketing, touring and recording costs.
This year, Cattle and Cane, The Comet Is Coming, Our Girl and Jammz feature in this years list selected by the foundation and its partners.

Together with last years partners Spotify, this year has seen the addition of PPL who help to license music in public places as well as ensuring artists receive royalties from them.
Arts Council England has seen the fund support the recording of 80 new albums, as well as some 100 UK tours, totalling over 650 UK live dates, since its inception. According to their own figures, every £1 invested by Momentum has generated £7.46 for the UK music industry.
“I’m really impressed by the breadth & quality of artists now being selected for this fund which has supported over 170 artists since the fund began in 2013, ” says Vanessa Reed, Chief Executive of PRS Foundation, “The huge demand for our latest deadline demonstrates how crucial access to investment is at tipping point in artists’ careers.”
The next deadline for the Momentum Music Fund is February, 21. Artists can apply through their website. This years full list of beneficiaries is as follows:
