The Clash

With the legendary debut album set to turn forty this year, Getintothis’ Craig MacDonald has details of the special docklands event.

The British Music Experience has announced details of a special event to celebrate 40 years since the The Clash released their eponymous debut album.

A Celebration of 40 years of The Clash with Steve Levine will take place at BME at its home in the Cunard Building on 9 May and will see Levine discuss the iconic album that he helped to engineer at the legendary CBS Studios.

The debut record from the cult punk icons is firmly lauded by critics, fans and peers alike as one of the most important records in modern music, with The Clash regularly making lists of the greatest albums ever made still today nearly four decades since its release.

From issues such as race and class in White Riot, to the state of the political landscape of Britain in Career Opportunities, the album is still as significant as ever.

Cher – the ultimate pop icon

This event should give a rare glimpse into the workings of both the group and the songs that will rarely have been seen or heard before, fans should make a date in the diaries and get their seats sorted pronto.
