A Pale Horse Named Death

Brooklyn’s gothic metal band A Pale Horse Named Death visit Liverpool as the city’s metal community invited to first major metal panel, Getintothis’ Peter Guy on this colossal double-header.

New York heavyweight metal titans A Pale Horse Named Death are to play Liverpool as part of their limited UK tour.

The Brooklyn doom metal quartet are to bring critically-acclaimed new album When The World Becomes Undone to Phase One in Liverpool city centre on Monday November 4.

The band, formed by Type O Negative drummer turned front man Sal Abruscato will make their debut appearance in the city showcasing music from their first album in more than six years.

Abruscato, commented: “The album is a conceptual ride about dark things that have gone on in my life. I try not to write too specifically, so people can interpret it into their own situations.

By the end of the album, everything is so dark, that by the time you get to the closer, which is a recording of an actual outdoor funeral with a priest speaking over a casket, it takes you really down and dark.

“But, you also hear a bird singing in the background, which gives it a sense of enlightenment, of something to look forward to in the end. It’s a journey - I like things very cinematic and grand.

When the World Becomes Undone, follows on from their 2013 album Lay My Soul To Waste, and will see the band perform ahead of a special free-to-attend conference discussing metal and the music infrastructure within Merseyside.

The panel will address metal within Liverpool, how to build networks, constructive ideas on how to build on the metal community and provide a platform for artists and metal fans to air their views.

The full panel members will be revealed in due course.

On the night, A Pale Horse Named Death will be supported by doom darlings OHHMS who weld together an immaculate tone, coated with a thick, stoner atmosphere.

Joining them on the bill are Leeds-based doom/death metal heads Petrichor and rising Liverpool doom metal band MAIRU.

A Pale Horse Named Death tour dates:

October 31: The Craufurd Arms, Milton Keynes
November 2: Damnation Festival 2019, Leeds University
November 3: The Grand Social, Dublin, Ireland
November 4: Phase One, Liverpool with OHHMS, Petrichor and MAIRU
November 5:  The Underworld Camden, London
