Jonathan Wilson this announced that his upcoming UK tour is to be postponed, Getintothis‘ Will Whitby has the details.
Folk master Jonathan Wilson has cancelled his upcoming UK tour due to “scheduling conflicts and unforeseen circumstances.”
Wilson was due to play a selection of small intimate shows on this tour starting at the end of October playing churches in Dublin, London and Glasgow as well as a special show at the Lady Chapel at Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral.
The psych folk maestro was set to be playing tracks last year’s sublime album Rare Birds, as well as stuff from his two previous records 2011’s Gentle Spirit, and 2013’s Fanfare.
Last month, Wilson released two new tracks in Skinny Legs and So Alive.
The latter shows off Wilson’s warm country vocals as violins and strings carry the song throughout. He said he will be back so eager fans will unfortunately have to wait to hear the new material live.
Hopefully upon his return it will be in similar surroundings to the Anglican’s Lady Chapel as it hold the ingredients for the show to be potentially something special.
Fans are urged to get in contact with the point of purchase should they want a refund as existing tickets may not be valid for his next shows.
Wilson released this message on October 21 via his social media, nine days before the tour was due to start:
“Due to scheduling conflicts and unforeseen circumstances that need to keep me stateside, I regret to say I WON’T be able to make it to the UK/Europe next month. No worry, everything is cool. I have exciting news coming musically speaking, and I’ll be back with the band and a batch of brand new songs for you (and some old ones) in 2020…
Apologies to those who were excited about these shows. I WAS TOO! Just have to postpone this run y’all, thanks for understanding.
Please get in touch where you bought tickets for refunds (only Paris tickets will be good for whenever the new show comes together, so hold onto those if you can), and keep an eye out for the new dates.“
