Shitkid has announced details of her second album of the year, Getintothis’ Jason Simon has the scoop.

ShitKid, also known as Åsa Söderqvist, is back with a new full-length album entitled 20/20 ShitKid, which is scheduled to be out on August 21.

The album is set to be the second ShitKid full-length of 2020, following on from her Melvins & Paul Leary collaboration LP Duo Limbo/“Mellan himmel å helvete” earlier this year.

Ever since the late 2010’s, ShitKid has brought her take on lo-fi indie and noise pop hailing from Sweden and as a self-described ‘anti-popstar’, her work is very reminiscent of the 90’s noise rock scene and it’s deliberately barebones, DIY style.

Accompanied with a rough and ready aesthetic and album art, similarities between her sound and Kurt Cobain’s unreleased recordings and earlier work can definitely be seen.

20/20 ShitKid marks the return of ShitKid as a solo project of Åsa, after their time as a duo with bassist Lina Molarin Ericsson.

Lina left the group after their US tour in support of Duo Limbo earlier this year, and the release of the soundtrack album Always Amber in early March.

The Lemon Twigs release new track from forthcoming third LP

Leaving the grunge-infused rock of Duo Limbo and the pop-punk of 2019’s [DETENTION] behind her, ShitKid is now continuing down the path of her 2017 debut LP Fish and the This Is It EP.

As a throwback to her older sound, ShitKid will opt for an alternative-pop infused sound on her new album.

You’ll be able to hear an eclectic soundscape, ranging from synth-pop to garage rock and also see her growth as a songwriter and musician.

If the new project is anything like what we have heard until now, it’s set to be a lively and grungy whirlwind.

You should make a note in your diary now.
