Texas heavy rockers The Sword break two year silence to release a brace of career-spanning compilations, Getintothis’ Claire Cook reveal the details.

Two years since the Texas-based band decided to take a break, The Sword are back with two collections showcasing over 15 years worth of music.

Speaking of the release, Bryan Richie said “As the band had gone on hiatus, we had this wealth of material to share including live sets — things that were sitting on my hard drive for years, things that were given to me at shows. It seemed like the right time.”

Conquest of Kingdoms, a three-disc vinyl collection of 30 tracks, 16 of which are previously unreleased, offers a mixture of live recordings, remixes, B-sides and covers of songs from KISSLed Zeppelin, ZZ Top and more.

Swag-lovers will be able to seek out a limited edition colour vinyl version.

A digital version, with a couple of tracks sliced off, will also be available.

Chronology 2006-2018, a three-disc CD set, is made up of 52 tracks and showcases The Sword’s greatest hits, as well as 12 unreleased tracks. The set will be accompanied by new liner notes containing contributions from the band, as well as Metallica’s Lars Ulrich and Mark Morton of Lamb of God.

Both collections are set for release on June 5 on Craft Recordings.

The Sword are also set to join Primus in North America on their A Tribute to Kings tour later this year.
