Lemmy

A film about the life of the heavy metal legend and Motörhead frontman Lemmy is set to be made. Getintothis’ Emilie Clark has the news.

Lemmy, who passed away in 2015, was the founder and frontman of British rock band Motörhead.

He is regarded as a legend in the music world, performing with bands and embracing the rock and roll lifestyle for over 50 years.

The film is said to explore Lemmy’s early life, before his time spent in Motörhead.

It will cover all of his music experiences during the 60’s and 70’s era, such as being Jimi Hendrix’s roadie, and the time he spent in his former band Hawkwind.

The film is to be directed by Greg Olliver, who also directed the 2010 documentary about the frontman, which was entitled Lemmy.

Todd Singerman, the manager of Motörhead, is executive producing the film alongside Steffan Chirazi.

Olliver says, “Behind the steely-eyed façade of rock n roll was a compelling, complicated and lion-hearted man who stayed the course and never gave up playing the music that made him happy”.

He adds, “We’ve been carefully developing this biopic since 2013, making sure to stay true to Lemmy, Motörhead band members Phil Campbell and Mikkey Dee, and all the other folks that played important roles in Lemmy’s life.”

“This will be a film they’ll be proud of”.

If all goes to plan, production on the film is set to begin in 2021.
