The Getintothis’ Jukebox

This fortnightly zeitgeist is compiled in equal measures from; Liverpool based artists, international acts soon-to-be touring the city and a wider sample of the most essential releases.

First and foremost, our local allocation includes Deep Hedonia innovator Kepla. Cementing his reputation as purveyor of the experimental underground; Jon Davies (Kepla) has utilised his platform to incubate a dark and dauntless moniker.

Jane Weaver has been seemingly omni-present in the past six to twelve months. The breakthrough album for the 2015 GIT Award nomineeThe Silver Globe, has already been effortlessly out done by her latest offering The Amber Light.

Sert One is a beatsmith based in Liverpool and one of the key components anchoring Fly High Society to the city. Forward thinking hip-hop is the goal for the highly praised Irish producer .

Gonzalla, also known as Cody Randall, is in his final year of LIPA formation. Hailing from the warmer climes of Huntington Beach California, Gonzalla has managed to bottle the sunshine pop nous of americana-folk.

Touring Liverpool this month are Of MontrealWire,  James Holden and Matthew E. WhiteOf Montreal have always been a band in flux. In a rare headline show the theatrical Canadian collective brought their outstanding back catalogue to the Kazimier on the 21st of April.

Harvest Sun continue their scorching bounty of bookings with Matthew E. White and James Holden. The former brought his soul fused melancholy to Leaf on the 21st of Aprill, while the latter will surely sell out the Kazimier on the strength of his epochal Inheritors alone.

British art punks Wire performed their subversive eponymous release to The Kazimier on April 23rd. As expected, in a room full of veterans with a passion for dissonance.

For good measure, we’ve also included four fresh releases from some of our favourite artists. This weeks picks include audio gold from; Dorian Concept’s Joined Ends remix EP, LA-based producer Nosaj Thing, Mercury Prize winners Young Fathers and Dev Hynes ‘Best-FriendsForever’ Samantha Urbani.

We also try feature one guest selection in each instalment of the Getintothis Jukebox. This edition’s was chosen by Cody Randall of Gonzalla.

Cody chose Make It Holy by globe conquering LIPA-alumni The Staves.

“I’ve just purchased their new vinyl about 10 minutes ago and will be it playing in my flat on repeat for weeks. It’s a great song and Jess is just so lovely!”
