World Merit Day 2014 to feature 24 hour festivities in Liverpool featuring Woodkid, Clapperboard, Dragons Den.. and Getintothis.


Grammy winner Woodkid is to headline World Merit Day – a 24 hour music, business and entertainment festival, at the ACC Liverpool on July 24.
The first World Merit Day, a global festival for young people blending music and entertainment with an entrepreneurial edge will take place in Liverpool acting as a finale for the International Festival for Business.
Unfolding over 24 hours at ACC Liverpool, World Merit Day will feature live entertainment, music, politics discussions, technology and media.
Heading up the music programme is Lana del Ray collaborator Woodkid, whose live show features a cast of 16 musicians blending his cinematic orchestral neo-folk music against a backdrop of innovative and breathtaking self-directed video footage.
Getintothis, meanwhile, will curate the best new Merseyside music talent.
Clapperboard, the not for profit organisation that encourages young people to produce TV and film projects from script to screen, will curate the film and TV section of World Merit Day.
Keynote speeches include Frank Cottrell Boyce, and workshops from industry insiders from Hollyoaks, Coronation Street and Lime Pictures.
Dragons Den entrepreneur Hilary Devey will hear young entrepreneurs pitch their business ideas and give feedback and support to worthwhile initiatives.
Will.I.Am‘s foundation I.Am.Angel Foundation will also stage a world record hackathon attempt encouraging young people with digital skills to code, build websites, apps and businesses – all in the 24-hour period.
Woolton-born World Merit founder Chris Arnold said: “We want young people to come together and exchange ideas with peers and leaders.
“Alongside some of the most exciting musical artists, we have invited a plethora of leading politicians, CEOs, motivational speakers, Dragons and other role models to open the minds of the audience to debate, listen to young people and to be a force for good in a world of power and influence.”
