SG Lewis

SG Lewis brings a touch of soulful house to Mersey shores via the Big Smoke, and he’s tipped for big things. Getintothis’ Ste Knight has the tittle-tattle.

There’s some bright things on the horizon for young SG Lewis at the moment. Having recently dropped a remix of Magnets for label-mates Disclosure, it could be argued that he’s aiming for the top. Add to this the fact that he is to feature on Channel 4‘s Future Sounds show tonight (12:05am – check it out) and we’re sure you will agree that this pioneering young producer has a bright future ahead of him.

His productions are riding the wave of the current down-tempo vocal house trend. His collaboration with Mancunian scouse-loving singer JP Cooper, Shivers, from which the EP is titled, is a real lesson in how to craft some real authentic silk, with Lewis‘s wonderful piano work and chilled beat programming complementing Cooper‘s honey-dipped vocals perfectly.

His track No Less certainly has a touch of the Yeezy‘s about it production-wise (if our self-proclaimed messiah is your bag). The stripped-back beats and Rhodes-style keys provide the perfect backdrop to singer-songwriter Louis Mattrs lyrics about looking after your girl. The track is a soulful delight, and testament to Lewis‘ skills as a producer, as well as Mattrs‘ ability to own the vocals on a track.

Check our scouser-by-proxy out on Channel 4 tonight, and you’ll see just why he’s becoming kind of a big deal around here.
