Falls

With huge hooks and massive riffs, Getintothis’ Tom Williams discovers four Welshman with a big sound and even bigger hearts.

Falls are a rowdy bunch. Four usually half-naked roaring Welshmen from the Deeside area, hell bent on big riffs with even bigger hooks.

That’s their appeal – it’s not just noisy fun, it’s catchy too. Last year’s Mastiff single is basically Pulled Apart By Horses covering Taylor Swift. And it’s brilliant. It was also worthy enough of a Too Pure Singles Club release, whose alumni also includes Allusondrugs and Black Moth.

They’re not shy of playing live, and seeing them is a party in itself. They’ve toured the UK pretty relentlessly, and we recently caught them opening for post-hardcore heroes Enter Shikari at a sold out Wrexham gig, not too far from their home town. A full 550 cap venue didn’t seem to nerve them much. You’re more likely to catch the band in the crowd than anywhere near their amps. Their reputation seems to be picking them up the right gigs too, with slots lined up at this year’s Hevy Festival and ArcTanGent.

They’re no doubt working on new music as we speak, but for now get some of this MLIK! All proceeds will go to the Save The Children Child Refugee Crisis Appeal. Big riffs make big hearts, it seems.
