Lost in France

With Lost in France set to screen at FACT, Getintothis’ Paul Higham has details of the new Chemikal Underground film – and how you can win a pair of tickets.

On Tuesday February 21 FACT will join cinemas nationwide for a special joint screening of Lost in France, a new film celebrating the Glasgow independent music scene of the mid-90s and in particular the seminal record label Chemikal Underground that was at its heart.

Chemikal Underground was founded by The Delgados and quickly emerged as the heartbeat of the city’s independent music scene becoming home to influential bands such as Mogwai, Arab Strap and Franz Ferdinand.

The film charts the rise of the label and revisits a chaotic early-career visit to France, combining archival footage, rare live performances and hilarious interviews. In reuniting many of the key figures from the label’s formative days, Lost in France will explore themes of nostalgia, friendship, memory and the sheer joy of making music.

18 years on and a return to France is on the cards…

Following the film, there will be a special live broadcast of a concert from the O2 ABC Glasgow which will feature a supergroup comprised of Franz Ferdinand‘s Alex Kapranos, Stuart Braithwaite of Mogwai, RM Hubbert once of El Hombre Trajeado plus Paul Savage and Emma Pollock of The Delgados.

Remembering the Liverpool 1990 Festival and a debauched Parisian weekend

Getintothis has three pairs of tickets for the film to give away. To be in with a chance of winning a ticket to this special screening all you have to do is like the Getintothis Facebook page, share this post and tag a friend who you’d like to take with you.

Lost in France screens at Liverpool’s FACT and cinemas nationwide on Tuesday February 21.
