2016 GIT Award nominee TVAM has announced the release his debut album and Getintothis’ Lauren Wise has all the info plus tour details.
TVAM, also known as Joe Oxley, will be releasing his debut album on October 19 this year, titled Psychic Data.
The album was self-produced and home-recorded, then mixed by Dean Honer (Moonlandingz, I Monster and Add N To (X)).
On working with Honer, Oxley said: “It was great working with Dean. I’m a massive Add N To (X) fan and knew he’d get where I was coming from after hearing what he was doing with Moonlandingz.”
Alongside the announcement of his debut album, Oxley, who was shortlisted for the GIT Award in 2016, also released brand new track These Are Not Your Memories. While issued to the masses on July 6, the track was first played on Lauren Laverne’s Radio 6 show.
Speaking about the new single, Oxley said: “I’m sick of nostalgia. There’s a real sadness at the heart of it. We’re obsessed with our pop culture past. So much so, we place more worth on the idea of our shared past than on actual memories and I’m guiltier than most other people. The internet is capable of truly amazing things, but being able to recall the theme tune to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles at three in the morning isn’t one of them. The song is about taking society aside and having a quiet word about its shared identity crisis.”
