Dirty Projectors return with a brand new EP and single, Getintothis’ Michael Maloney with all the details on the artsy Brooklynites.

Brooklyn outfit Dirty Projectors have dropped a new EP, their first release since 2018’s Lamp Lit Prose.

Released on March 27, the new EP, Windows Open, features four brand new Dirty Projectors tracks.

The band preceded the release of Windows Open with their single, Search For Life, a string arranged ballad featuring guitarist Maia Friedman on vocals.

Windows Open is the first record by the current Dirty Projectors lineup that toured Lamp Lit Prose with Maria Friedman, Felicia Douglas, Kristin Slip and Mike Johnson joining band leader Dave Longstreath.

The other tracks to feature on the Windows Open are Overlord, which was the first single from the EP, On the Breeze and Guarding The Baby which closes the EP.

Similar to Search For Life, Friedman sings lead vocals on all of the songs as Longstreath took a backseat from vocal duties and focused on writing and producing the EP with a helping hand from Friedman lyrically. The band recorded the album in Ivo Shandor, Los Angeles.
