Fat White Family

Fat White Family have announced a clutch of UK dates including a Liverpool stop off, Getintothis’ Matthew Loughlin is looking forward to the mayhem.

Fat White Family have announced a UK-wide tour that takes in a first visit to Liverpool’s Invisible Wind Factory.

Riding a wave of rave reviews for their third album Serf’s Up and in seemingly stable, fine form, the notoriously riotous outfit are playing 14 dates in November and December.

In contrast to the stripped back acoustic and flute-led (!) tour earlier this year, this time out the band features a fully-armed unit.

However it would be false to pretend that this means we know what to expect in the least.

Although their shows are famously chaotic and, occasionally, descend into debauchery, the past few years have seen the Fat Whites operate with an increasing clarity and focus, without straying into the middle-of-the-road or sacrificing the danger that has made them such an exciting, vital piece of the UK music scene.

With Serf’s Up, the sleaze and grime that coated so much of previous albums was replaced with a languid, sultry sound that at times even bordered on tropical.

Though the topics dealt with were as right-on as ever (case in point; lead single Tastes Good With the Money commenting on the Grenfell Tower disaster) and there is nothing to suggest their upcoming dates will be any tamer or more restrained.

Additionally, to celebrate the tour announcement, the band have also revealed details of a remix of Serf’s Up opening track, Feet, courtesy of Parrot and Jarvis Cocker, available on limited 12” and digitally.
