Parrjazz, Liverpool’s premier jazz night, moves to a new home and Getintothis’ Jelly Roll Parker has the details.
London’s 606 club and Bass Clef, Edinburgh’s Jazz Bar, Liverpool’s Cavern Club and La Cave du 38 Riv in Paris are icons of the jazz world.
Jazz music has traditionally had a natural home below street level.
The good people at the Jacaranda on Slater Street know this and have offered their famous subterranean venue to Parrjazz as the new home for their flagship Tuesday night jazz sessions.
Parrjazz is an organic and ever-changing organisation and has taken the opportunity to move its base and regular Tuesday sessions to one of the most famous venues in the city.
Parrjazz will occasionally return to Phase One on Seel Street and also has events planned for EBGBs – all within the supportive Jacaranda Group family of venues.
The jazz scene in Liverpool has been steadily growing for the past decade with over 20 separate events every week.

Parrjazz has exciting plans in the pipeline to recognise 100 years of jazz in the UK and continue to design events that unite world class touring musicians with the blossoming Liverpool jazz scene throughout various venues and at workshop events.
A diverse Tuesday night programme has been put together and will be extra super-cool in the womb of The Jacaranda, kicking off with the “explosively wild” Treppenwitz on Tuesday, October 15.

Parrjazz is a not for profit organisation passionate about promoting jazz within Liverpool, both local and touring acts. It is always exciting and inspirational to unite the two.
In 11 years, we have evolved into a self-standing organisation that works with many venues and this is a move that feels good. Graham Stanley and The Jacaranda Group have already worked with us for the last year and supported us on our journey and we’re really happy to continue working with them.
There has to be a shout out to the many people over the years who have helped Parrjazz evolve and keep providing over 200 jazz gigs a year in Liverpool. The future is looking exciting, varied and genre bending.”
