Returning to Liverpool for the second time in a year, Getintothis’ Adam Lowerson has the details of Black Rivers’ Arts Club show.

Former Doves members Andy and Jez Williams’ new band Black Rivers are set to hit the Arts Club on September 17, in an event promoted by Club EVOL. The gig sees the brothers return to Liverpool for the second time in little over a year, having performed in 2014 at the Shipping Forecast alongside Scottish indie rockers Neon Waltz.

Black Rivers, who are the second side project to emerge from Doves‘ hiatus since former frontman Jimi Goodwin released his first solo record in 2014, announced their arrival earlier this year with a self titled debut LP on Ignition Records. The Manchester band have enjoyed a busy year ever since having opened for fellow Mancunians Elbow and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds on their respective UK arena tours.

Doves, who released four highly acclaimed albums between 1998 and 2010 on Heavenly Recordings, and became one of the most popular guitar groups of their time with singles such as Black and White Town, Words and Kingdom of Rust. The trio, who formerly performed together under the name Sub Sub between 1991 and 1996 as a house act, announced they were to take a break from recording in 2010 and have been on hiatus ever since.

Black Rivers are enjoying a busy summer having already performed at Latitude and Manchester’s Summer in the City festival, with slots at Kendall Calling and Deer Shed festival still to come.

Tickets for the event are available online now.
