Club EVOL is eight years old – and Getintothis has a pair of invites to Revo’s super-dooper Kazimier party – hurrah!
Steve ‘Revo Ziganda’ Miller has been putting on gigs for nearly 150 years a decade in Liverpool – and this Friday he’s throwing a whopping party to celebrate.
It’s goes without saying, Getintothis was top of the invite list, but guessing we wouldn’t quite bring the required ambience on our own he’s added some half decent support in the form of Zola Jesus, EMA, Johnny Sands, James Rand and Mr Paul to assist with The Kazimier hoopla.
Ms Jesus (or Nika, to her mum) makes her Liverpool debut after jetting in from L.A. following the release of her third full length album Conatus – it’s kinda Kate Bush for the post-dubstep brigade. Or that’s what Bob from Probe tells me everytime he’s waxing lyrical over cookies and hot chocolate.
EMA (or Erika, to her mum), meanwhile, is a Getintothis 2k11 jukebox staple with her album Past Life Martyred Saints.
Her mix of angry, Patti Smith audio-self-harm is the perfect accompaniment to smashing the entire contents of my spare room and then rewinding while I glue the whole lot back together. It’s euphoric, gnarly, chillingly affecting and one of the albums of the year. She’s also done a mean version of Nirvana‘s Endless Nameless.
The Liverpool connection of Johnny, James and Paul only adds up to a night of 100% guaranteed bossness. What a marvellous man, Revo is.
Of course this is hardly a new thing, as Getintothis‘ regular readers will be well acquainted with the man himself and his extensive donkey work in shaping the city’s live scene, Korova as a HQ for the hip and his nifty skills at lining up the goods for Liverpool Sound City.
