Loved Ones have previewed their long-awaited return with the debut of new single Cartridge and a new live announcement, Getintothis’ Patrick Clarke takes a listen.

Not known for rushing their output, it’s been well over a year since we last heard recorded material from Loved Ones – the soundtrack album Equipment Pack that accompanied October 2014’s Subterrania night at the Sefton Park Palm House.

It’s been longer still since the last LP proper from the Wirral outfit, winners of the inaugral GIT Award in 2012, but the band have now revealed the first taste of their upcoming sophopmore LP Harness with new track Cartridge premiered last week.

A slick, bright weave of entrancing piano and layered, intertwining vocals, a breezy slides through a slick, protracted crescendo of hinting strings and a measured infusion of the dark, electronic lilts that characterised their earlier work.

The band have also announced their return to the live foray with a show at Liverpool’s Buyers Club on April 12 where they will be supported by GIT Award 2016 nominee L U M E Nfollowed by a visit to the Sebright Arms in London on April 13, alongside Nadine Carina and Lucky Shivers.

On their Facebook page the band said: “After two and a bit years of having kids, changing nappies, reading bedtime stories and generally being good father figures, we’ve decided to throw it all away again and go back to the musical coalface.”

Further live dates have also been promised for the future, while Harness is set for release ‘later this year’.
