Eyesore and the Jinx

While we’re sure there’s still Christmas shopping to do, avoid the shops and catch a gig instead, as Getintothis’ Simon Kirk has this week’s highlights.

Time to breathe… where gigs are concerned, the last couple of months have been up the wall. Not that we’re happy to report this, but this week is almost tumbleweed town in comparison with previous ones gone by.

That’s no excuse, though. We realise you have last minute Christmas shopping to do, but there’s plenty of time to fit in a show.

So our advice is this. Avoid John Lewis, H&M, Next, and – of course – the cold weather – and get yourself along to one of these.

This week’s action:

Thom Morecroft

Thom Morecroft : Jacaranda Phase One, Monday December 17

Shropshire-born singer-songwriter/now adopted Liverpudlian, Thom Morecroft, will be playing his final show of the year at Jac’ Phase One.

For those who contribute to his crowdfunder program, this one’s free. For those who don’t? Well, just go and support a local talented artist.

Cattle and Cane

Cattle and Cane: Studio 2 Parr Street, Monday December 17

Teesiders, Cattle and Cane (named after the Go-Betweens song), are in town on the back of their follow-up to 2015’s Home, in Mirrors.

They will be illuming Parr Street with their brand of folk and roots and on a week a little lighter on the show front, this one is a good way to kick things off.

The Christians

The Christians: Eventim Olympia, Friday December 21

Liverpool legends, The Christians, are playing at the Olympia which is sure warm the cockles of the local faithful.

Labelled as one of the finest live acts kicking around, this is certainly a show not to miss.

Getintothis’ Top 100 Albums of 2018

Cast hit town for their Greatest Hits tour, spanning from their catalogue over the past twenty-two years.

For long term devotees, it appears Christmas has come early. This is going to be a special one for all of you Cast lovers out there.

Ian Prowse

Ian Prowse & Amsterdam:  O2 Academy, Saturday December 22

Ian Prowse and Amsterdam will surely add a bit of early Christmas cheer, celebrating the 25th anniversary of Pele’s The Sport Of Kings.

Along with the Pele set, there will be Fireworks songs as well as Amsterdam and solo favourites.

Eyesore and the Jinx – Deep Cuts at ONE
